It's funny, haven't seen a lot of these ads for 40 years and yet was singing along as if it was only yesterday.
Westpack bank offering 11%PA???? You are lucky to get 5% these days... Unless its crypto..
This has to be from 1990.
My god, there was someone willing to give you 13% return on your money with basically zero downside risk. That would never happen these days.
This can't be Sydney.. where are all the Chinese people
Get into the pink 😂
+++🐸🦘+++THE GOOD YEARS+++👉😅+++LOVE THAT TIME+++🤑❓❓❓+++1987+++
When advertisers didn't feel the need to bash us over the head with virtue signaling a 'representation' of a demographic that doesn't really exist. We actually had wh!te couples in commercials and every man wasn't portrayed as a fool. I miss the good old days before the woke mind virus took over
Beautifully said. Australian flags, lots of aussie made stuff and no dei hires
Needs a proper historical analysis - but these videos are pretty fascinating from about 1976 to 1981. Product advertising was always a thing - but it's around this time stuff like Bankcard and Mercantile Credit start to creep in. Like - watch the ads ... and the new thing - go out and buy the products with money you don't have yet (but might have later if stuff works out).
Oh god the Nescafé ads !! 🙄🤢
I pay for UA-cam subscription to avoid ads and now I’m watching ads 😂
The singers in the goldmark ad sound so so much like human nature 🤔
Everyone looks so young and fresh. You don't appreciate what you have until it's gone forever. Whatever you do, just keep them coming.
Oh my God! I found an old Stick Up air freshener in a box on my shed a few weeks ago!
The dying days of the "posh" Australian accent.
ah, Yogogorilla! There’s a flashback 😃❤️ Goldmark jewellers…where you could get a 5% discount card! ha ha
Where’d they get the money for that, how about they saved their money
I think so. This logo since used at 1994, until 2018
9:49 but why to pick it with a fork? seems she wants to eat this dog food.
Oh, a Hey Dad ad. 😬
For whoever like me lived those moments of real passion and professionalism, it makes feel sad on how "The best airline of the decade" has "dramatically" changed.
Lauda air! I remember this. Love the old commercials.
16:20. Not Sydney. If this was Sydney this was Grace Bros. You have a Melbourne advert there…tsk tsk.
Sad fact of reality - Higher Interest Rates back then and a lot of products, companies and people are no longer around or with us. Great fun reminiscing on the 80’s.
This is also from a time where the individual customer still mattered and there was true competition.
Fuck, talk about a monoculture. Some commentators (Joe Hildebrand) have recently said there were no successful monocultures?!!! How about Japan, China, the Romans? Every Western democracy since WW2? How about Australia in the fucken '90s?? SO good, so successful. Now we have some Mustralians shouting "gas the Jews" in sydney harbour, without any consequences. We also have Australia Day being shamed by leftist/Globalist alien forces. Is that success? Unchecked multiculturalism with the denouncement of the idea of Australia? I know I had to fight to get the Australian flag displayed in my workplace amongst the hudreds of foreign flags - not even displayed prominently, just displayed, leftist Globalist forces hate the idea of Australia as much as they hate America. Patriots here have to stand up and say "no", to envoke more of what was before, like in these great ads.
Aussie promos for MWC and X-Files are GOLD.
Worst investments ever (fully edorsed by AusGov): Telstra and Qantas
Does anyone remember the fish head and wax head ads? I can’t find them anywhere
and just imagine, the population has almost DOUBLED again since then…
Shout out to Kilner Mason and Simon White !
@5:56 pause lol
Thanks.
Life must of been so beyond boring for people to enjoy this tripe.
The internet was in its infancy, Smartphones were a thing of science fiction, home computers were still new and exciting, and people were far more chill. It was a good time.
😢
Gee that Irish one at 20:00 really tests your ability to hear that accent
No one or few have a clue what money is or where it comes from. When educational videos have relatively few views compared to a "cute kitten" video with millions of views video you know humanity has reached an end point and even if we survive the current wars for energy and resources the end result is total collapse of the current energy based standard of living only made possible by cheap easy energy since the discovery of oil. What many "financial/economic" videos don't (and most people haven't ) is make the connection between *energy* and *economy* All money is debt. All economic activity uses energy. Money or debt is a claim on future energy use. Both are inextricably linked. The only way a monetary system based on debt has survived is by making claims on energy that is now in decline. And there's no such thing as the oxymoronic catch phrase "sustainable growth." The only sustainable human societies have taken nothing from their natural environment but lived in harmony with it for millennia. On the subject of the current malaise of the debt-based monetary system a lot of documentaries miss the point of energy is the lifeblood of the economy. And gold is sometimes not discussed in depth. And most importantly these "messages" or "wake up calls" posted on social media and platforms like UA-cam to "alert" and "save" the masses are really sincere attempts to achieve the impossible. For a start how many want to be "saved"? Or care? When you see tens of millions of views for "cute kitten" videos and a few thousand for serious monetary and financial system breakdown what does that say about humanity's collapse? Self inficted? Or blame the government banking cartel or themselves? Democracy in name only. Nothing wlll change until reality hits those who are ignoring the information available hits them in the face. It's every man for himself. But that doesn't mean you ignore friends and family. When the great cleansing comes maybe humans can learn to live within their means in a natural environment with much less without killing each other over scarce resources and food?
That Prima advert is very wholesome.
5:33 The ad didn't work, Hawke ended up winning convincingly.
Now people think hawkie was great, and the same add in essence gets re ran every election.
This was a great era. No political correctness. No agenda being shoved down everyone's throats. These days, ads are full of agenda. Lgbtqiabcdefg, feminism, race, politics etc. It turned into a joke.
I remember mercantile! . Subbed, shared to my channel! .🙂
Good onya mum, Tip Top's the one! Good onya mum..
13:26 I should Call her..
I didnt know lindy chamberlain did coffee commercials.
Saying to myself, this cant be that old - I remember them too well. wow VCRs were so expensive. and tvs so small! Yet, we were just as happy without smartphones and hi tech.....probably happier I reckon.
The pepsi taste test was won on the basis that pepsi is sweeter and in small amounts people prefer it. But when having a regular glass sized drink, the sweetness is too much and people tend to prefer coke instead.
The guy at 9:28 looks familiar. I think he may have been in quite a few commercials or perhaps an actor that wasn't necessarily a household name. Not sure. 😅
1 cent salads at KFC, pharrkk me.. I wish I had a time machine 2023 suxxxx
1 cent salads are great but did you notice the interest rates?
Interesting find and at 2:15 HKG-SYD was flown via MNL which means from September 1946-present Cathay Pacific has been competing with Philippine Airlines which is already 5 years old in 1946 on the HKG-MNL sector. Which continues to today with CX A333 A35K A321neo A359 B777-300/ER being better than their PR versions of the same aeroplanes. 3:22 I wonder if that includes Filipina otherwise the first ones are Taiwanese South Koreans Japanese Thai and Malaysians in addition to the local Hong Kongers. Around the 1960s or late 1950s the airline starts to hire Filipinos
Very excellent informative programme and on their first route HKG🇭🇰-MNL🇵🇭 i see Cathay Pacific service better than Philippine Airlines Mabuhay and Fiesta Classes. Also applies from EWR/JFK to MNL via HKG while PR runs the direct flight. Which can also explain why the airline has been getting former Philippine Airlines Crews to work for them
